Colinge Group Main Page

 group picture Oct 2012

The Colinge Group develops methods and research projects to analyze biological systems through computational approaches. The main interests are in computational proteomics and the functional analysis of interaction networks.

We cover three main categories of projects:

Systems biology and medicine

We analyze protein interaction networks of different kinds and sizes with the aim to understand their biological function or their specificities. Recent work on this topic includes the analysis of virus-host protein interactions (published in Nature) and the inference of  potential drug side-effects and additional indications (repurposing) on the basis of drug-protein interaction networks. We are currently extending these methods to analyze next generation sequencing data and amplify genetic defects relevant to a chosen phenotype as opposed to the many other alterations detected in the genotypes.

Computational proteomics

We address fundamental mass spectrometry (MS) data modeling problems such as protein identification, quantitative and differential proteomics, and the prediction of protein complexes from AP-MS data sets. We also develop and maintain an infrastructure to automatically process mass spectrometry data and to provide users with data analysis tools.

Bioinformatics

We participate in various projects to collect and to interpret data, mostly from a statistics or data integration point of view. Our publication list contains many co-authored papers resulting from such collaborations, which are nicely at the source of several new research projects we started over the years.
